Donald, born 1878, was a son of Hugh and Ann nee Macleod, 31 Valtos. He served in WW1 - a sergeant in the Canadian Infantry and was awarded the Military medal for bravery in action in France. He later became Chief Constable of Vancouver Police, British Columbia, Canada.

Donald was married to Jessie Morgan from Wales.
