Alasdair Aonghais Choinnich

Alexander  (1909-1978) was a son of Angus Montgomery and Mary Ann Macdonald, 2 Garyvard. His father was lost on the Iolaire.

At Kilmallie, Inverness-shire, in 1939, he married Catherine Kennedy, 24 Gravir. Alexander and Catherine had three children and at some point the family lived at 24 Gravir and the children attended Gravir School.

The family later settled at Kyle of Lochalsh.

He was a famous bard and wrote many poems and songs. Nurse Brown who was from Islay, lived in the Nurses house. She owned the first wireless in the village and Alasdair soon wrote a poem about her Marconi radio. The first two verses went as follows:-

Cluinnidh tu weather forecast nuair bhios dochas ri droch thide
S'bith speech a League of Nations or ga leughadh a Geneva
