Catherine was possibly a daughter of Norman Macleod and Margaret Macleod who lived in Tobson. Her family gave hospitality to John Coleby, an English sailor who was shipwrecked off Bosta. Catherine married John and they moved to Gravesend, England where they had approximately four children. John came to Bosta with three children as a widower.
