49018: Rev Norman Campbell Macfarlane

Norman Campbell Macfarlane (1854-1933) was a son of John Macfarlane and Ann Macdonald, Crobeg. The family moved to Stornoway between 1851 and 1861.

He studied at the University of Glasgow and the New College in Edinburgh. He was ordained and inducted to the Ministry and served the congregation at Cruden Bay.

At Portobello, Edinburgh, in 1885, he married Ann Murray Livingston, Brighton Park, Portobello. 

Norman became Minister at St Andrews Free Church, Juniper Green, Edinburgh where he remained for 35 years. He was also the author of the book The Men of the Lewis.
