47706: Donald Macneill

Donald (born 1874) was a son of William Macneill and Isabella Macdonald, 1 Carishader. He  married Margaret Macleod, 11 Valtos and they emigrated to Southampton, Ontario. They returned to Uig to live for a time in Carishader, where they established a shop.  This was taken over by John Mackay, 2 Carishader when Donald and  Margaret returned again to Canada.

The Macneills had first come to 1 Carishader when they were evicted from Bernera; they were only able to get a poor croft at the north end of the village.
