Donald (1888-1952) was a son of Neil Macphail and Christina Sutherland, 19 Southside Gravir.
He worked at the post office in Gravir until he was called up for War service in 1916.
In Partick, in 1918, he married Margaret Fraser, 14 Gravir. Donald and Margaret settled in Falkirk and they had three children.
The family later lived with Margaret's mother at 14 Gravir before they emigrated to British Columbia, Canada in 1945.
Donald was widowed in 1946.
