Catherine (1870-1916) was a daughter of John Mackay and Isabella Maclennan, 28 Gravir. In the late 1870s the family obtained 41 Gravir and the two crofts were merged and registered under 28 Gravir.
In Lochs, in 1892, she married Murdoch Macphail of 19 Gravir. Catherine and Murdoch settled at the Old Salt House, 19 Southside Gravir and they had seven children.
