Farquhar  (1809-1890) was a son of Angus Macdonald and Margaret Macleod, Cappadale. He moved with his family to Geshader in 1838, when Cappadale was cleared  and settled at number 3.

Farquhar was married three times: Hannah Macleod, Gisla; Henrietta Macleod from Grasivig and then Catherine Mackay from Valtos. In the 1841 census he is married but with no children; in the 1851 census he is a widower with two children, and from 1861 he is married to Catherine Mackay.
