2944: Donald Matheson

Donald (1896-1949) was a son of Andrew Matheson and Isabella Macfarlane, 15 Gravir.
He served as a Signaller in the Ross Mountain Battery in the First World War and was wounded at the Dardanelles. Donald was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Greek Military Cross and is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
Donald was a journalist at Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham.
At Inverallan, Morayshire, in 1927, he married Marion Grant from Morayshire. Donald and Marion settled in the Birmingham area and they had at least one child.
