2429: Johanna Nicolson
Seonag Aonghais Iain
Johanna (1885-1960) was a daughter of Angus Nicolson and Mary Matheson, 12 Gravir.
At Peterhead, in 1913, she married Roderick Macdonald, 6 Kershader. They both worked at the fishing. Johanna and Roddy returned to Kershader and they had three daughters. The couple left Kershader c.1953 and moved to 2a Sand Street, Stornoway to live with their eldest daughter Chrissie. Joanna died there in 1960.
She had originally been engaged to Roddy's brother Murdo, but he emigrated to Canada and when she didn't hear from him for four years, she thought he had forgotten her. He sent an engagement ring in the post, but by then she was married.
