Angus Maciver
Angus Maciver
Angus, born c1805, was a son of John and Catherine nee Morrison from Lochganvich. He lived in Breaclete with his wife and family until 1851, when they emigrated to Hampden, Quebec. Angus was a strong man in his youth and, in a competition of strength, could break the knee-joint of a steer (hence the reference to the black beasts). A similar feat of strength, called "an dorn fhuar", was twisting a cow's foot off without cutting the skin.
