16289: Angus Maclean

Angus was born in February 1859, five months after his father Angus’s death from smallpox. Though his mother and father had lived at Aird he was born in Stornoway in Cromwell Street (probably his uncle John Mackenzie’s house).

He is resident with his maternal grandparents in 1861 and in 1871 in Aird. In 1871 his mother is a visitor to the house so she is clearly living with her second husband; by 1881 she is widowed again and living with Angus and her son Donald in Aird.

Angus married Marion Mackay, 8 Brenish in Ardroil in 1892. They settled at 1 Aird Uig and had two sons.
