Born in 1904, Donald John grew up in Crulivig and went to America, where he was a shepherd on the prairies of Montana. On his return to Lewis Donald John was given a feu off 2 Earshader by his brother-in-law Angus. This plot of land has since been known as 5 Earshader.
Donald John died at 5 Earshader aged 86 years
