John, born 1835, was the eldest child of John Shaw and Chirsty MacCusbic of Borve, Berneray. During the 1840s the family emigrated to West Bay Marshes, Cape Breton.
John married Flora MacLeod of Marble Mountain. He farmed at Malagawatch, later moving to Boston.
