109057: Margaret MacLeod

Margaret was the daughter of Norman MacLeod, 12th Chief of Clan MacLeod of Harris and Dunvegan. She married Donald Gorm Mòr MacDonald of Sleat, who soon rejected her due to her inability to bear him a child. Margaret is said to have lost an eye about this time and she was sent back to her childhood home of Dunvegan Castle in 1600. Her brother Roderick Mòr MacLeod was furious and demanded that her husband take her back. This Donald refused, instead divorcing Margaret and taking a new wife. It was this insult that led to a feud between the two clans.
