Loch Baravat, Uig

Loch Baravat, Uig

In this small freshwater loch above Crowlista are the remains of a small dun or craggan.

Legend tells us that this was at one stage used by Domhnall Cam, and in particular after a difficult boat journey when his companion, Iain Dubh Chraidhig, jumped overboard and swam ashore, leaving Domhnall without oars, rather than face his anger. Apparently returning to the home comforts of the dun in Loch Baravat was sufficient to calm his temper.
