14 Borve, Berneray

14 Borve, Berneray

14 Borve was created in 1900, when the Congested Districts Board for Scotland persuaded the South Harris Estate to break up Borve Farm and re-allocate the land as crofts.

Croft 14 was allotted to Allan Paterson. However, following the death of his wife, followed two years later by Allan's own death, the croft was worked by his family, i.e. father Norman Paterson and sister Jessie Mary until Allan's son Donald inherited the tenancy. Following Donald's death in 1965, the croft passed to his brother Archie. Alexander MacLean was tenant from about 1970.
