16 Tolstadh a Chaolais

The first tenant of this croft was John Maclennan (1785-1845) from Tolsta Chaolais. In the 1860’s, Malcolm Mackay from Garynahine took part of the croft (16a Tolsta Chaolais).  His son Malcolm (b1867) was a cottar on croft 16a and he later went on to obtain 16b Tolsta Chaolais. 16a passed to Malcolm Mackay’s son Duncan, to Duncan’s daughter Peggy Mackay and to Peggy’s son John.

Widow Rachel Maclennan and her son Donald resided at 16b Tolsta Chaolais which was eventually added back to 16a Tolsta Chaolais .
