3107: 3 Ungeshader

3 Ungeshader was tenanted first by Murdo Smith (1851) but subsequently by the Macleans (1871) who had come from Geshader (and originally Reef). The croft is the southernmost in Ungeshader, reaching the gill that marks the boundary between the village and neighbouring Enaclete.

A bit of No. 3 was carved off to create 4 Ungeshader, tenanted by Mathesons.

The old blackhouse was replaced in the 1930s by a small new house built by Peter Maclean and his brother Shonnie, who reputedly carried the stone blocks in from the road end – half a mile away – in a hand barrow. The house is known as Taigh na Coll.

Shonnie was the last crofting resident. After his death the croft passed to Kenny Smith.
