The first tenant of 3 Balallan was Alexander Martin (1810-) who came with his family from Laxay in the mid 1830s. They left Balallan in c1852.

The next tenant was Donald Macleod, 1 Garyvard and the croft was inherited by his son Donald (1860-1946).
