18547: 59 Balallan (New)

This croft was originally located above the main road in Balallan. When new crofts were added to the west of the village in the 1860s, the old number 59 was renumbered as number 64.

Malcolm Macleod (1815-1894) from 11 Balallan was living on the old croft until he was evicted to 2 Habost in the 1860s.

Donald Macleod (1820-1874) from 11 Balallan settled on what is the new croft at 59 Balallan. His son Malcolm (1855-1937) inherited the croft. After Malcolm’s death, the tenancy of the croft went from his son Donald Alex to his other son Donald John and then to his daughter Christina.
