14562: 6 Balallan

The first known tenant of 6 Balallan was Murdo Macleod (1801-1859). His son Malcolm inherited the croft until they moved to North Shawbost in the late 1880s. Murdo’s other son John (1839-1911) took over the tenancy before passing it on to his own son Murdo (1860-1933) who had been living in Fort William before returning to 6 Balallan in 1925. They returned to Fort William in the early 1930s and Murdo’s brother Roderick became the tenant of the croft.
