40694: Baile na Cille Manse (1784)

The Manse at Baile na Cille was built c1784 on glebe land just above the shore at Uig Sands, near the ancient cemetery and sanctuary around St Christopher’s Chapel. It served as the residence of the Established Church minister of Uig until the mid 1980s, but was occasionally unoccupied or let to visitors when the post was vacant. In the mid 19th century it was taken by the Darrochs for use as a shooting lodge.

The Manse was extended in the 1820s when the new church at Baile na Cille was built.

The house and outbuildings were sold by the church in the 1980s. More recently it was run as a guesthouse.
