12674: 1 Caverstay
The first tenant of this croft was Norman Macleod who probably came from Harris. When the village was lotted in the 1850s, Norman Mackinnon, also from Harris and working at Crobeg, became the tenant but appear not to have stayed long. John Mackinnon (1854), son of Louis Mackinnon, 3 Caverstay was the next tenant and he eventually sold the croft to Malcolm Macleod, 1 Garyvard for £50 which was considered to be a very high price at the time.
