Comann Eachdraidh Sgìre Bheàrnaraigh (CEBL)

Comann Eachdraidh Sgìre Bheàrnaraigh (Bernera Historical Society) has undertaken several projects on the island of Bernera on the west side of Lewis to mark locations and events of historical importance. These include the Bernera Riot cairn, Norse mill restoration, and repairs to the Loch Risay lobster pond. Following the 1996 excavations at Bosta Beach of the unique late Pictish Iron Age village, the Comann Eachdraidh led the community in funding and building an exact replica of the Iron Age house at Bosta and adding a purpose-built museum to the Bernera Community Centre.

The museum tells the story of Berner and its people, and contains genealogical and croft records for the area. Opening times for the museum and Iron Age house can be found on the website.
