Angus Maclean
Angus (1806-1893) was a son of Duncan Maclean and Catherine Maclennan, Bayhead Street, Stornoway. He was a stonemason from Melbost who built Morsgail lodge, the church at Ceann Langabhat and the manse at Uigen. The estate owed him money and he was given the option of his wages or Gisla Farm and he chose the latter. Gisla Farm was established in the early 1850s and he was first tenant.
Angus married Ann Macrae, daughter of the farmer at Scaliscro, and lived at Scaliscro for some years before moving across the loch to Gisla. They had seven children.
