Jane (1829-1892) was a daughter of sergeant William MacKay and Janet Gordon, Jamestown, Thurso. She married James Macrae of Harris and after their marriage came to live in Miavaig, Uig, where her husband was Registrar and Inspector of the Poor. They had a family at Miavaig Farm.

Jane died in 1892 at the United Free Church Manse in Berneray, her daughter Margaret's home, and is buried at Baile na Cille cemetery:
