19392: Nursing Committee Contributions (Uig)

LOCAL AND DISTRICT NEWS – UIG

NURSING COMMITTEE – In compliance with the Medical Service Board’s demand that every district should contribute a certain sum towards the nurse’s maintenance, collectors were sent through the various townships in order to raise the necessary funds and with the following results:-

Brenish and Islivig (Collectors, Mr Angus Mackay and Mr Norman Macaulay), contributed 2. 5s. 6d.

Mangersta (Collector Mr D J Macleod, Schoolhouse), 10s.6d

Crowlista (Collector, Miss Mackenzie, The Lodge, and Miss Finlyson, Ardroil), 3.1s.6d.

Aird (Collector, Mrs Mackenzie, Aird), 1.13s.6d.

Uigen and Cliff (Collector, Mr Macdonald, Miavaig), 2.0s.6d.

Valtos (Collectors, Miss M A Maciver and Miss C Macdonald, Kneep), 1.2s.9d.

Lochcroistean District (Collectors Master Duncan and Neil Macleod), 2.3s.6d.

Total 15.19s.3d.

This was considered very satisfactory indeed as every householder (with very few exceptions in one or two households) readily contributed the small fee imposed.
