19353: Sad News (Donald Maciver, Aird Uig)

LOCAL AND DISTRICT NEWS – UIG

October 18, 1918

SAD NEWS – On Monday last, Mr. Norman Maciver, 9 Aird, received the sad news that his son Donald was lost at sea on 12th September. His ship was torpedoed in the Mediterranean on that day, and 37 other lives were lost and 150 saved. The sympathy of the community is extended to his parents and his brothers and sisters in their loss. It is a great comfort to them that one of his brothers, Sergt. Duncan Maciver, Seaforths, another gallant soldier, is at home with them now.
