96364: Norman MacLeod

Norman (1880-1916) was a son of Norman MacLeod and Annie Murray, 28 Lower Barvas.

On 1st January 1902 Norman enrolled with the Royal Naval Reserve. His service number was 2338C and his record (held by The National Archives) notes that Norman was 5′ 9.5″ tall, had a chest measurement of 39″, and had a fair complexion and blue eyes. His Royal Naval Reserve Record spells Norman’s surname as “McLeod”.

During the First World War Norman served on the HMS Invincible. He was killed when the Invincible was sunk in the battle of Jutland. His name is recorded on the Chatham Naval Memorial in Kent (section reference 18).
