95392: Murdo Campbell

Murdo (born 1816) was the son of Alexander Campbell and Margaret Maclennan of Old South Tolsta Tack.

In 1830, during the croft lottings, the family obtained 26 Old South Tolsta.

Murdo married Catherine Murray, of 2 Old North Tolsta, and the couple settled as cottars at 26 Old South Tolsta.

In 1841 the couple emigrated to the Eastern Townships of Quebec; it is not certain if their first child was born in Tolsta, prior to them emigrating, or later that year. In total the couple had six children. Murdo was widowed in 1852.

By 1854 Murdo had married and had a son with Catherine Macleod, of Quebec. It is not clear when he was widowed again.

By 1866 Murdo had married Isabella Mackay and had the first of three sons with her; the couple’s first child died in infancy.
