Effie married Hector Maciver, but it is not clear where the couple initially settled or where their first three children were born.

By 1820 the family were settled on Old South Tolsta Tack and it was there that the couple’s fourth child Mary was born.

In 1830, during the croft lottings, the family obtained 19 Old South Tolsta. In due course this passed to their son, Donald.
