Murdo (born 1873) was the son of Hector Maciver and Margaret Carmichael; it is not clear where the family were living at the time of his birth. His maternal grandparents lived at 3 Glen Tolsta and his paternal grandparents at 28 North Tolsta.
In 1875 the family obtained 3 Glen Tolsta.
In 1883 the family emigrated to America and settled in Carolina.
