Alasdair (1939-2012) was the son of Donald Maciver and Ann Nicolson; it is not known where the family were living at the time of his birth.

Sometime during the Second World war his father built Bayview, North Tolsta and the family moved from the cottars house at 62 North Tolsta and settled there.

He married Isabel of Fort William, Inverness-shire and settled with her there and had two daughters. His wife was killed in a car crash, in Fort William. He returned to the island and stayed with his mother and brother at Bayview, North Tolsta, before purchasing 6 Back and settling there.

He then sold 6 Back and settled in Inverness and lived there until his death.
