93141: Ann Campbell

Ann (1834-1906) was the daughter of Donald Campbell and Lily Maciver of 14 Old North Tolsta. She was baptised on the 25th of March 1835.

In 1854, after Old North Tolsta was cleared to make way for Tolsta Farm, the family obtained 47 North Tolsta as a newly lotted croft.

Ann married Murdo Murray, of 18 Back, and the couple settled at 47 North Tolsta, as cottars, and had seven children.

In 1874, the family obtained 71 North Tolsta, as a newly lotted croft, and the couple had their last child there.

Their eldest daughter Christina became a cottar at 71 North Tolsta and had eight of her 13 children there before moving to Stornoway in 1892.

In 1886 their youngest child Murdo died, aged 11.

In 1888 their son Alexander died, aged 24

Ann was widowed in 1897.

In due course 71 North Tolsta passed to their son John.
