93105: Donald Morrison

Donald (1794-1882) was the son of George Morrison and Isabella Macmillian; it is not clear where the family were living at the time of his birth. There is some suggestion that the family may have lived in Gress Tack, but this is not certain.

In 1820 Donald’s name appears on the subtenant list of Old South Tolsta Tack.

Donald married Mary Graham and the couple had two children between 1825 and 1828.

In 1830, during the croft lottings, the family obtained 19 Old North Tolsta; the couple had a further four children between 1831 and 1839.

Their daughter Isabella died in infancy in 1833. Donald’s parents obtained 29 Old Back that same year.

In 1853 Old North Tolsta was cleared to make way for Tolsta Farm.

In 1854 the family obtained 46 North Tolsta as a newly lotted croft.

In due course 46 North Tolsta passed to their youngest son George.

Donald was widowed in 1880.
