92957: Murdo Mackay
Murdo (1859-1936) was the son of Norman Mackay and Christina Campbell, of 66 North Tolsta.
Murdo married Catherine Graham, of 25 South Dell, but it is not certain where the couple initially settled, or where any of their eleven children were born.
Two of the couple’s children died in infancy: Lily, in 1904, and Murdo, in 1912.
The family eventually obtained 42 North Tolsta, it is possible that this was not until after the death of Mary Mackay, in 1917. Alternatively it is also possible that the family lived there as cottars and helped Mary maintain the croft.
The couple had two daughters called Christina; the second one became a nurse and served with the foreign mission in Peru.
In due course 42 North Tolsta passed to their son-in-law Malcolm Macdonald, husband of Christina(2) (1900).
