92618: Angus Murray

Angus (1779-1855) was the son of John Murray and Margaret Macdonald of Knockaird, Ness.

Angus married Annie Campbell, of South Dell, and they had their first child in 1807, but it is not clear where the couple were living at the time as we have limited information on the residents of Old South Tolsta Tack. The sub-tenants list of 1820 lists an Angus Murray, but by 1830 there are two Angus Murrays who obtained crofts in Tolsta; therefore it is impossible to know which one was living there in 1820.

The couple had their final child in 1830 and, that same year, they obtained 5 Old South Tolsta as a newly lotted croft. In total they had nine children: seven girls and two boys.

In the 1851 croft re-lottings, the family obtained 35 North Tolsta.

35 North Tolsta passed to their son-in-law John Maclennan.
