92311: Murdo Macleod

Murdo (1904-1973) was the son of Norman Macleod and Christina Campbell who were cottars at 53 North Tolsta.

Murdo married Mary Maciver, of 28 North Tolsta, and became a missionary, but the order of these events is not clear. The couple settled at the Cromore Mission.

Murdo was widowed, in 1939, when Mary died in childbirth with their first child: Donald.

In 1940 Murdo’s son Donald died in infancy.

Murdo married Morag Maclean, of Scalpay, and moved to Sunnybrae, North Tolsta, which he had purchased from John Campbell. The order of these events is not clear. The couple had two children together: one boy and one girl.

In due course the house was sold to a man from Tolsta.
