92064: Mary Maciver

Mary (1838-1919) was a daughter of Donald Maciver and Margaret Maclean. The address at the time of her  birth is not certain, but it is likely the family were living with her paternal grandmother, at 22 Old South Tolsta, or her maternal grandparents, at 31 Habost, Ness.

In 1841 the family obtained 8 Old North Tolsta, after the prior occupants had emigrated to Quebec.

In 1853 the family obtained 32 North Tolsta after its prior occupants had emigrated to Ontario.

Mary married her step uncle Alexander Smith, of 24 North Tolsta. The couple settled as cottars at 24 North Tolsta and had ten children.

After his birth in 1902 Mary’s grandson, Alexander John Smith (the son of her daughter Margaret Smith) lived with Mary.

The cottars’ house at 24 North Tolsta passed to Mary’s son Murdo.
