91978: Margaret Murray

Margaret (1864-1948) was the daughter of Donald Murray and Isabella Maciver of 22 North Tolsta.

At least four of her ten siblings died between 1872 and 1876.

In 1881, her elder sister Christina, had a daughter Mary who lived with the family.

Margaret married Donald Murray, of 27 North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 22 North Tolsta, which passed to Donald. The couple had six children: five boys and a girl.

Margaret’s youngest son: Donald died in infancy in 1910.

Margaret’s eldest son: Donald, died on the 11th of October 1915, aged 19 years, in City of London Military Hospital. He died as a result of wounds obtained in the Belgium trenches. Letters survive from the night sister to Donald’s parents. Margaret also lost her son Angus that same year, Angus was only ten at the time.

Margaret’s eight grandchildren were born between 1931 and 1947.

Margaret was widowed in 1933.
