Alexander (1899-1944) was the son of Murdo Morrison and Isabella Smith who were cottars at 15 North Tolsta. He married Mary Morrison of 8 North Tolsta and settled there with her as cottars. They had four children.

During the Second World War Alexander served with the Merchant Navy. He died on SS Sesame, on the 11th June 1944, off the Normandy coast.
