Murdo (1835-1898) was the son of Kenneth Murray and Margaret Campbell, of 15 Old South Tolsta.

In 1851, during the croft relottings, the family obtained 27 North Tolsta.

Murdo married Ann Murray, of 7 North Tolsta; It is not certain where the couple lived after they married, they may have been cottars at 27 North Tolsta, but this is not certain.

Their first child was born in 1859 and their last in 1879; in total they had eight children: five boys and three girls.

In 1884, 27 North Tolsta passed from Murdo's brother Donald, to Murdo. Donald and his family then emigrated to the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Murdo's son John became a cottar at 27 North Tolsta around the same time.
