Ann Maciver

Ann Maciver

Ann (born 1883) was the daughter of Murdo Maciver and Isabella Macleod of 19c North Tolsta.

Ann's step sister Mary inherited 19c North Tolsta, but Ann continued to live there for sometime while working as a herring girl. She also lived away from home, in Lerwick, County Durham and Yarmouth, at times whilst pursuing work as a herring girl.

Ann had the letters AMT tattooed on her wrist and she became known by this nickname.

Ann purchased the former cottars house at 4 North Tolsta, from the Free Presbyterian Church, and settled there. She never married and the house passed to her nephew Murdo Murray.
