8912: Donald Macinnes

Donald (1906-1972) was a son Malcolm Macinnes and Christina Macleod, 36 Gravir. 

On July 26, 1924, he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve, Service Number A11838. His record indicates that he was born in Calbost, he was 5ft 5in tall with brown hair, grey eyes and a fresh complexion. Donald was a fisherman on Stornoway registered fishing boats including the Mary Jane. He joined the Merchant Navy and travelled to the River Plate on the SS Highland Glen and was Coasting on the SS Eleveen.

Donald moved to Glasgow and his work precluded him from being in the Royal Naval Reserve.

At Hillhead, Glasgow,  in 1939, he married Johanna Macleod, 35 Gravir. Donald and Johanna settled at 24 Byron St, Partick, Glasgow in 1948. The couple had four children.
