The Chisholm family came from the mainland to work for the parish minister at Keose as farm labourers.
John Chisholm (1800-1876) was a son of Kenneth Chisholm and Christina Macleod, 17 Old Gravir.
In Lochs, in 1830, he married Margaret Macritchie, 21 Old Gravir. John and Margaret settled at 17 Old Gravir and they had nine children. In the 1852 lotting John obtained 29 Gravir.
