John, known as Iain, was born in 1888, the son of Neil MacLeod and Marion Ferguson of 21/22 Ruisgarry (Ben Leva). He married Bella MacQuarrie from Lochportain.
Following his father’s death in 1920, he inherited the croft at Ben Leva. Following his own death in 1948 it was passed to his sister Mary.
