Peggy Munro

Peggy Munro

Peggy Munro was the daughter of Lachlan Munro and Ann Ferguson, cottars on 3 Ruisgarry. Later the family moved to 10 Borve, which her father obtained in 1900.

Peggy worked as a domestic servant and wool spinner after leaving school. She had a daughter, Rachel, and later married widower John MacKillop of 11 Borve, with whom she was to have three children, Roderick, Neil and Ann.

Son Roderick, who made several recordings for the School of Scottish Studies sound archive, recalled his mother's premonition of a death, although she wasn't normally considered to have second sight. The tale is available in both English and Gaelic on the Tobar an Dualchais website.
