Angus (born c1855) was a son of Neil Mackay and Ann Macleod, 14 Crowlista. He assumed tenancy of 7 Crowlista from his unmarried aunts and settled there with his wife Catherine Macaulay, 17 Crowlista. They raised eight children (including three sons who became ministers).
Angus was known as “boss” because he was a foreman of stonemasons, most notably he supervised the building of the Crowlista township boundary wall, famously built in part by women.
