72167: Effie MacKinnon
Effie was born in about 1833, the eldest child of John MacKinnon and Betsy MacAskill of old Ruisgarry. Effie’s father died when she was about 18 years old and the family moved to become cottars at Lamerick. Effie worked as a domestic servant, employed by Mrs Mary MacGillivray at 8 Ruisgarry.
The house at Lamerick passed to Effie following her mother’s death some years later. Effie and her twin sons Murdo and John moved to Skye during the 1880s and later to Tarbert.
